A group of superb rugs hand woven in wool during the latter part of the 19thcentury, in the Kuba district of the Caucasus (Azerbaijan), close to the Caspian Sea, known as “Perepedil” rugs.
All four examples shown here are still in wonderful, original condition.

These rugs, a C. John favourite, were woven using a geometric style incorporating the “Ram’s Head” design, with a background colour of dark blue, coral or ivory.
